A green non-profit wrote laws? No one even moved an eyebrow We have a new scandal. The association "Society for the Protection of Freedom of Speech" (SOSP) allegedly influenced the wording of the European regulation DSA and submitted comments on its incorporation into Czech legislation. Reaction? Everyone is going crazy, Seznam published three articles on the front page as a precaution, and reporters are outrageously flooding online platforms with posts calling for the condemnation of absolutely unprecedented interference in state affairs. It is supposed to be illegal lobbying. It needs to be investigated, verified, and potentially the association should be sanctioned for daring to act this way... Then we have other "smart ones." For example, the non-profit "Climate Facts," officially registered as Open Data on Climate. This non-profit wrote one law, or rather a strategic government document, directly! It concerns the Climate Protection Policy (POK) - the document forms the basis for the settings of the Modernization Fund's calls, it forms the basis for decrees, and other quite significant matters, such as ESG reporting of companies. That's when a company takes away your company car and orders you to ride a bicycle to have a lower emissions footprint; otherwise, it won't get a loan. Contract 1 - Contract 2 - Climate Facts is led by Ondráš Přibyla, a former chairman of the Green Party. In November 2023, the non-profit organization was commissioned by the Ministry of the Environment to write a government strategic document, specifically its most powerful official, former employee of Hnutí DUHA, Petr Holub. It cost over 600 thousand crowns. Not only did the non-profit write the document, but it also defended it during the so-called commenting process with other ministries. This was part of the contract, and climate activists had complete freedom in their work. That's not all. Climate Facts really does not tolerate coal and fossil energy. When the LEX OZE III law was discussed, the non-profit created a study called "The End of Coal in the Czech Republic." Annual report 2024 - Petr Hladík took the study and the document with data, in which the costs of the transmission system are not reflected in the OZE price, used it as legislative material to reject amendments advocating for common sense. It was a joint proposal from ANO and ODS. Study - What does Ondráš Přibyla say about this, when in the annual report of the non-profit, he asks himself what he is most proud of? "That our work had a direct impact on legislation – specifically on the Lex OZE3 law. In this case, our analysis served as a basis for arguments against proposals that in their original form could have led to subsidizing the operation of coal-fired power plants. This actually showed us that we have matured as an organization." What can be said about the fact that the data in the study is completely fabricated? It does not include the price of resources balancing the generation from OZE and misses investments in infrastructure. That’s just folklore with OZE. The non-profit organization Climate Facts is financed by (...dramatic pause) the Solar Association, Krsek Family Foundation, Wienerberger, European Climate Foundation, PPG Group, HW Group, ČSOB, and also the State Environmental Fund. Besides ČSOB and the state SFŽP, in all other (!!!!!) cases, we're talking about companies operating in the OZE sector and receiving billion-dollar subsidies dependent on the operational support of sources. The European Union supports Climate Facts precisely for the purpose of promoting and backing its policies. Source of funding, annual report, p. 24 - It’s worth several millions for Ondráš Přibyla to have written those laws himself and to have shut down the evil coal-fired power plants with fabricated data. Dear Seznam and other "independent" editors. I have the feeling that the SOSP association does not write legislation directly, much less that the state pays it for writing strategic documents. Natálie Vachatová is an official advisor just like lobbyist Štěpán Chalupa from the OZE Chamber was on the MPO and Martin Sedlák from the Modern Energy Union was on the MŽP. The latter somehow turned rogue and practically ran the ministry. He probably broke a number of laws, not just those regarding hidden and unannounced lobbying, as I noted in my last report. When Seznam is surprised that they’re not allowed into the Chamber of Deputies, when the editors defend themselves with "independent and objective" journalism, it’s enough to look at this example of maximum imbalance, political engagement, and completely undisguised oversight of the troubles of those whom the editorial office supports at the expense of those who are its ideological enemies. Today's media increasingly take on the roles of political instructors, namely ideological controllers of the enforcement of party lines within public debate. Does a non-profit influence laws? It’s battling against DSA, Chat Control, Agora EU, RRS, and other regulations of the European Commission? No, that's ideologically wrong. Does another non-profit influence laws? It writes national strategic documents, fabricates studies affecting energy security? Aha, it promotes a zero-emission economy and is financed by the right "climate-friendly" investors, plus it's led by our favorite Greens... That is, of course, ideologically completely clean. By the way, neither members of SOSP nor members of the Climate Facts non-profit are registered as lobbyists. And this is how self-censorship is born, dear friends. Then you all wonder why your sales or advertising revenues are falling and why the reader trust index is also declining. No, it’s not due to political attacks; you can blame yourselves for that. Shalom. Photo Přibyla: Climate Facts Photo Vachatová: Facebook (translated)
