Lukáš Valášek wrote that Foreign Minister Petr Macinka rejected support for the Finnish proposal to limit the entry of hundreds of thousands of Russians into the EU. According to him, Macinka claimed that the initiative had no chance of success. Valášek added that the Czech Republic had applied a similar regime, but Russians could enter the country from neighboring states. According to Valášek, Macinka's decision went against the positions of the top leadership of the Foreign Ministry, as was evident from internal communications he had access to. Čeněk Hajný, head of the director’s office of the European Department of the Ministry, reportedly recommended joining the Finnish initiative because its content was in line with Czech positions. Valášek stated that Russians were obtaining about half a million visas to the EU each year, with the most being issued by Italy and Spain. Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen reportedly pointed out in a letter to Prague the Russian attacks on Ukraine as well as the threat of sabotage and other hybrid operations in the EU. She proposed not to issue visas for non-essential travel, including tourism. https://t.co/VYoTXSXV92 #Rusko #EU #viza (translated)

Schools, hospitals, and homes remain under attack. Russian sabotage and other hybrid operations threaten the European Union. The Kremlin assesses our determination based on our actions. Where they encounter hesitation, they push further. We must raise the price they pay for their illegal war, and part of this response must also be Europe's visa policy. Valtonen wrote to Prague, suggesting, among other things, not granting visas for non-essential trips, including tourism. #Finsko #Rusko #víza (translated)

The Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces, General Hlaváč, stated that in his opinion, Russia has conducted a conflict with Europe below the threshold of open war. According to Hlaváč, its hybrid actions in the information environment and cyber attacks could have influenced the cohesion of allies as well as the army's ability to command, decide, and conduct operations. In recent years, the army has built up information and cyber forces and trained specialists for these tasks. Hlaváč mentioned that the previous day he visited their command and the 92nd Cyber Warfare Group. According to him, their members protected military networks and weapon systems, assessed threats, and provided commanders with the materials needed for decision-making. Hlaváč added that these capabilities were supposed to be part of the training, planning, and conduct of operations across the entire army, not just one command. #KybernetickáBezpečnost #HybridníVálka #Armáda (translated)

Kutil then wrote that he was trying to find a sufficiently absurd comparison for Andrej Babiš's idea of appointing Matěj Gregor as Minister of Education. He considered the notion that his border collie might start welding, but due to her intelligence, trainability, and work ethic, it didn't seem improbable enough. He felt similarly about the possibility that Slavia would win the Champions League, despite what he considered a disgraceful performance in Baku the previous day. Even entrusting a complicated brain surgery to the local hospital didn't seem absurd enough to him, so he gave up further searching. In conclusion, he stated that human imagination has its limits, while Andrej Babiš apparently does not. #absurdnost #politika #Babiš (translated)
