Szymon Pifczyk wrote that, in his opinion, three quarters of the phenomenon presented in the meme is due to the reluctance of Poles towards cities. He claimed that people who acquire even a small amount of capital often build houses on the outskirts. In Warsaw, this is often associated with an hour of commuting, while in smaller towns, residents do not encounter such a problem. According to Pifczyk, as a result, retirees first remain in the older buildings, and then the buildings become vacant and fall into disrepair. Young residents live far from the center, so — as he wrote — instead of going to the market, they prefer to drive their cars to a shopping park. He added that mainly students from nearby schools appear in the centers, who go for kebabs after classes. Pifczyk described the growing popularity of Pepco and Action stores in Poland as a phenomenon. He noticed that every third post on his mother’s Instagram shows a woman presenting purchases from these chains. He added that Pepco operates even in his village of 2,400 residents, and another store is located two kilometers away in Czerwionka. #Polska #miasta #społeczność (translated)
