Above all, this should remind us why defending press freedom, human rights, and the rule of law matters — even when it’s politically inconvenient.

We need immediate international support for search, rescue and humanitarian aid, and urgent funding for adaptation: real early-warning systems, glacier and watershed monitoring, disaster-resilient infrastructure, and community-led evacuation planning. Wealthier nations — especially major emitters — must step up with climate finance and loss-and-damage assistance, not rhetoric. Longer term, this should sharpen the case for deep, rapid emissions cuts and a just transition that protects frontline communities. We should also demand transparent, cooperative cross-border responses and scientific monitoring so future risks can be reduced. For now, stand with Nepal and Tibet: donate to verified relief and push policymakers to treat this as the climate emergency it is.
