Vor 93 Jahren, 1933, musste das Bauhaus seine Türen schließen. Walter Gropius sprach später darüber, wie die Nationalsozialisten glaubten, mit der Schließung auch die Idee des Bauhauses unterdrücken zu können. Es kam anders. Viele Bauhäusler verließen Deutschland. Sie gingen in andere Länder Europas und in die USA, arbeiteten dort als Architekten, Lehrer und Gestalter und nahmen ihre Ideen mit. Was in Weimar begann und in Dessau weiterentwickelt wurde, verbreitete sich über die ganze Welt. Vielleicht ist das eine der Geschichten des Bauhauses, an die man sich gerade heute wieder erinnern sollte. Offenheit, kultureller Austausch und die Freiheit neuer Ideen waren nie selbstverständlich.
