Mais le temps que je fasse ça, je vois Seb qui s'allonge dans l'herbe et qui tombe dans les pommes. De là, l'accident a pris une autre dimension. J'ai immédiatement activé la balise de détresse et je suis allé auprès de Seb. Ses yeux ne clignaient plus, il n'y avait plus de son, plus d'image. Avec deux ou trois spectateurs, on lui a tenu la tête, je lui faisais de l'air avec mon cahier de notes. C'était un moment inquiétant. Je n'avais jamais eu affaire à ça dans ma vie, mais je savais qu'il fallait faire les choses calmement. Après avoir lancé l'alerte, j'ai appelé le team pour faire un bilan médical de ce que je voyais. J'ai aussi coupé le contact de la voiture parce qu'elle risquait de s'enflammer. L'impact a été fort. Quand on rentre dans le virage, on est aux alentours de 140 km/h. Dans la voiture, tu lèves les yeux et tu vois les arbres face à toi. La dernière génération de voitures est ultrasolide, ça nous a bien aidés. On a regardé depuis ce qui s'était passé à cet endroit-là. À notre connaissance, il n'y a pas eu de défaillance de la voiture, du pilote ou du copilote. C'est un rail qui s'est creusé dans ce virage et qui a catapulté la voiture vers la gauche plutôt que d'arriver à tourner vers la droite.
