Five Lessons on Aggression and Dominance “There is a point in the history of society when it becomes so pathologically soft and tender that… it sides even with those who harm it.” Friedrich Nietzsche wrote this nearly 140 years ago, yet it still sounds contemporary. In *Chimpanzee Politics*, Frans de Waal shows that dominance, aggression, hierarchy and confrontation—often dismissed in humans as “toxic masculinity”—also appear in our closest relatives. These behaviors may reflect deep-rooted drives, not merely social constructs. **1. The threat of violence can keep the peace** Most chimp confrontations are displays, not fights. Only about 0.4% of male confrontations become physical. Rank depends on strength, alliances, displays and recognition. Violence matters partly because it is rare: conflict must be allowed to resolve before it escalates. **2. When respect disappears, violence rises** Chimpanzees maintain hierarchy through formal greetings, including bowing. At Arnhem, 22 of 37 serious male fights occurred when males had stopped greeting one another—even though such periods made up less than a quarter of observation time. Violence was nearly five times more likely when recognition rituals broke down. **3. Power requires alliances** Before challenging the dominant male, a chimp often grooms females and plays with their young. Like Machiavelli’s political challengers, he builds support before attempting to seize power. **4. Influence can replace force** Female chimps sometimes recruit males to attack rivals, signaling distress and flattering the enforcer while avoiding the fight. Power can operate through alliances and influence, not just strength. **5. Concentrated resources create conflict** Chimpanzees normally forage for scattered food, limiting competition. When humans provide concentrated food, aggression rises. Larger groups are also harder to govern because familiarity declines and hierarchies become unstable. Stable societies may require hierarchy, respect, controlled confrontation and distributed power. Suppressing every expression of dominance may not eliminate conflict; it may remove mechanisms that keep conflict contained.

O levantamento mostra uma estrutura que envolve praticamente toda a cadeia de alimentação do clube: compra de arroz, feijão, macarrão, ovos, leite, farinha, óleo, temperos, frutas, verduras, legumes e carnes, além da contratação de empresas que fornecem refeições, marmitas, cafés da manhã, lanches e alimentação semanal. E é justamente essa combinação que levanta uma pergunta que merece ser respondida pelo Corinthians: Quanto custa produzir uma refeição dentro do clube e quanto custa comprar essa mesma refeição pronta de terceiros? A planilha não permite afirmar que exista irregularidade ou duplicidade. Mas permite identificar uma aparente sobreposição entre compra de matéria-prima para produção interna e contratação recorrente de alimentação pronta. HORTIFRÚTI: R$ 443 MIL EM UMA PLANILHA SEPARADA Um dos principais fornecedores é a Hortifrutícola Tinem. Na segunda aba da planilha, separada especificamente para análise dos gastos com hortifrúti, aparecem R$ 443.381,76 em despesas. A Tinem aparece com vários lançamentos envolvendo frutas, verduras, legumes e outros produtos. Entre os itens estão bananas, maçãs, laranjas, abacaxis, melões, mamões, mangas, uvas, melancias, tomates, batatas, brócolis, alfaces, cenouras e outros produtos utilizados na preparação de alimentos. Também aparecem registros de “TEMPERO”, que chamam atenção pelo volume financeiro. Na semana passada o Corinthians explicou que são produzidos mais de 600 refeições por dia na cozinha do CT para todas as categorias, e afirmou que o alto valor do item "Temperos" foi um erro de descrição do fornecedor. Sabemos que o Corinthians possui estrutura própria de cozinha e alimentação. Portanto, uma pergunta legítima é: Quanto dessa matéria-prima é transformada em refeições dentro do próprio clube e quanto é comprado de terceiros? ARROZ, FEIJÃO, MACARRÃO E OUTROS INSUMOS O levantamento também identificou uma série de produtos básicos utilizados para preparação de alimentos. Entre eles estão: - arroz; - feijão; - macarrão; - farinha; - óleo; - azeite; - açúcar; - leite; - ovos; - temperos; - molhos; - extratos; - outros produtos de despensa. São produtos que não representam uma refeição pronta, mas sim ingredientes utilizados na preparação de refeições. Isso é importante porque mostra que o Corinthians não depende exclusivamente de empresas terceirizadas para alimentar seus atletas. Existe também uma estrutura de aquisição de matéria-prima. A questão, portanto, passa a ser entender qual é a proporção entre o que o clube produz e o que compra pronto. E AS CARNES? Outro capítulo importante da planilha é o gasto com proteínas. No levantamento dos produtos identificáveis como carne bovina in natura, foram encontrados aproximadamente R$ 484.912,17 em compras. Entre os principais cortes aparecem: - filé-mignon; - alcatra; - contra-filé; - maminha; - picanha; - fraldinha; - coxão mole; - coxão duro; - patinho; - lagarto; - acém; - carne seca; - entre outros. O maior fornecedor é a Smartfrig Comercial de Carnes, considerando as duas grafias da razão social existentes na planilha. Somadas, as duas identificações da Smartfrig representam aproximadamente R$ 374.853,64 em carnes bovinas identificáveis. Na sequência aparece a B.B. Distribuidora de Carnes, com aproximadamente R$ 98.106,30 em produtos bovinos identificáveis. Também aparecem compras de carne bovina com: - Apetito Foods — aproximadamente R$ 6.813,37; - Michele Ramundo — aproximadamente R$ 4.310,46; - Frimesa — aproximadamente R$ 828,40..... Mass Migration as a Path to Expanding State Power Western governments have incentives for mass migration. Increasingly staffed by progressives, the state wants to expand its authority over social relations and the economy. Wealth redistribution and equitable representation are easier to claim once the state controls the levers. Many see rising living costs as a failure; for those harmed, it makes sense. From the state’s perspective, however, faster arrivals than can be housed, schooled, or treated strain the system. The state then responds with more spending in those areas, exerting economic control. A state failure becomes the pretext for expanding the state. Higher population also enables misleading “per-capita” narratives. If five people live together making $50,000 each, GDP is $250,000. Add five more and cut everyone to $45,000: GDP becomes $450,000—nearly double—despite lower individual income. Competition for rooms, food, and yard space raises prices while people earn less, producing fewer earnings and higher costs. Rob Henderson calls these “luxury consequences.” Mark Wiseman, co-founder of the Century Initiative, backed a goal of 100 million people in Canada by 2100 (~800,000 per year). What happened in 2022–2024 exceeded targets. After disaster, Wiseman “failed upwards,” later joining Prime Minister Mark Carney’s advisory council. If the state directs social and economic life, it must also prevent revolts when planning fails. Fragmenting society into factions and encouraging their differences weakens cooperation—divide and conquer. The state’s interest was never a thriving citizenry, only a growing one.
