Y los empleados necesitan, comercios, salud, esparcimiento, educación para sus familias, etc. Son los llamados encadenamientos hacia atrás. Luego están los encadenamientos hacia adelante: los empleos que se posibilitan por la disponibilidad del insumo (energía o minerales) para otras industrias. Acá, por ejemplo, podríamos sumar a la petroquímica, fertilizantes, o cualquier producción que use de manera intensiva energía o minerales. Todo esto es bastante entendido. Y estos efectos se pueden medir. Por ejemplo, la matriz insumo producto nos indica que por cada puesto en la producción petrolera se generan 5 puestos adicionales en sus encadenamientos hacia atrás, y así.
