Po zakończeniu kariery - w uznaniu długiej służby narodowi w trakcie wojny i po jej zakończeniu - otrzymał wysoką emeryturę. A za zbrodnie w Kobierzynie nie odpowiedział ostatecznie nikt. Jednym z fundamentów postanazistowskiego reżimu Republiki Federalnej była pełna amnestia dla zbrodni popełnianych na etnicznych Polakach.
