Het Noorse staatsfonds boekte in de eerste helft van 2026 een recordwinst van $184 miljard. Het rendement kwam uit op 9,4%, vooral dankzij technologieaandelen. ⁠ En ze beleggen niet bepaald voorzichtig. Het fonds bezit inmiddels gemiddeld ongeveer 1,5% van alle beursgenoteerde aandelen ter wereld. Alleen al in Nvidia zit circa $62 miljard, naast $52 miljard Apple, $50 miljard Alphabet, $35 miljard Microsoft en $34 miljard TSMC. Voor het eerst werd ook een belang van $1,2 miljard in SpaceX bekendgemaakt. In totaal is inmiddels 72,1% van het fonds in aandelen belegd. Meer dan de helft van de huidige waarde van het fonds bestaat bovendien uit opgebouwd beleggingsrendement. Dat is misschien wel het grootste verschil in mentaliteit: Noorwegen gebruikt zijn natuurlijke rijkdom niet alleen om vandaag rekeningen te betalen, maar zet kapitaal aan het werk zodat toekomstige generaties er ook van profiteren.
