I had the pleasure of meeting the president of the Belgian federal Parliament, Mr. Peter De Roover, at the Parliament's headquarters in Brussels. Our important exchanges focused on several issues related to strengthening constructive dialogue in its various forms, as an essential peaceful instrument for addressing transnational international crises. We also emphasized the importance of preventive religious diplomacy carried out by the Muslim World League. We discussed the crucial role that the diversity of religious institutions around the world can play in defusing conflicts before they erupt, particularly those related to hate speech and the clash of civilizations. This role involves early awareness of the universal nature of difference and diversity, which should be addressed through dialogue, understanding, and collective action around shared values, in order to promote peace in the world and harmony within societies, while respecting everyone's right to live with dignity. I would like to express my deep gratitude for the commendations made by the president of the Parliament for our efforts on behalf of the Muslim World League and the Organization of Muslim Scholars. He praised, in this regard, the leading role played by the League in promoting understanding and mutual respect, fostering peaceful coexistence, and strengthening trust between societies. He described this presence as a concrete example of positive international pluralism and preventive diplomacy. I was also pleased that the president of the Parliament acknowledged the concrete nature of the international action we undertake on behalf of the League, as well as its institutional commitment, which goes beyond theoretical frameworks to establish real dialogue with leaders and communities around the world. The role of the League thus serves as a concrete model of contribution to building peace and promoting the values of coexistence, tolerance, and social cohesion. (translated)
