James McMurtry (born March 18, 1962, in Fort Worth, Texas) is an American rock and folk rock/Americana singer, songwriter, guitarist, bandleader, and occasional actor (Daisy Miller, Lonesome Dove, and narrator of Ghost Town: 24 Hours in Terlingua). He performs with veteran bandmates Daren Hess, Cornbread and Tim Holt. His father, novelist Larry McMurtry, gave him his first guitar at age seven. His mother, an English professor, taught him how to play it: "My mother taught me three chords and the rest I just stole as I went along. I learned everything by ear or by watching people." McMurtry spent his first seven years in Ft. Worth but was raised mostly in Leesburg, Virginia. He attended the Woodberry Forest School, Orange, Virginia. He began performing in his teens, writing bits and pieces. He started performing his own songs at a downtown beer garden while studying English and Spanish at the University of Arizona in Tucson. After traveling to Alaska and playing a few gigs, he returned to Texas. https://hvdommelen.nl/lp/McMurtryJ.html

Among many great concertos by legendary composers, Sergei Rachmaninoff‘s contributions, specifically his second concerto, remains one of all-time favorites of mine. The sweeping melody played by the cellos in the first movement is easily one of the most emotionally devastating moments in all of classical music. Then comes the second movement, suspended in a sentimental, dreamlike state, followed by the stunning third movement, driven by those thrilling, jumping staccatos. Throughout it all, the piano is doing wonders, absolutely stunning, virtuosic writing that never feels empty, but always deeply purposeful. #Rachmaninoff #PianoConcerto #ClassicalMusic #ComposerLife #Pianist #InTheEternalDay #VinylCommunity #TehranSymphonyOrchestra #VahdatHall #MusicReview #OrchestralMusic #ClassicalVinyl #Rach2 #MusicNarrative #SymphonicWorks https://tunitemusic.com/post/rachmaninoff-piano-concerto-no-2-a-review/

Large cities possess a curious dual personality. During the day, they perform. Before dawn, they think. New essay: what 18 months of aimless morning walks through Brussels taught me about writing, cities, and why good ideas refuse to be summoned. https://open.substack.com/pub/nordicledger/p/eight-euros-well-spent?r=mwsn6&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true

Academic writing with LLM has unexpected benefits, like getting explanations of how to position an interdisciplinary paper so the two main disciplines it deals with would like it. I would not have seen it. #AcademicWriting #Interdisciplinary #LLM #Nospecificcountrycodes.

For those who don’t get it, this is a re-enactment (in Zaporizhzhia) of Repin’s famous painting, Zaporizhzhia Cossacks writing (an insulting) letter to the Ottoman Sultan. Why writing by hand is better for remembering things: “Whenever handwriting movements are included as a learning strategy, more of the brain gets stimulated, resulting in the formation of more complex neural network connectivity.” In other words: Writing by hand, as opposed to https://t.co/DzVkZ0Wtga #Handwriting #Memory #Learning #Nospecificcountriesarementionedinthetweet.

On Sunday, July 5, 2026, the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) premiered Philip Glass’s latest masterpiece, Symphony No. 15 “Lincoln,” at its summer home in Lenox, Massachusetts. The eight‑movement work, composed between 2021 and 2023, couples a solo baritone with a full orchestra to present a sonic portrait of the 16th President, drawing directly from Lincoln’s own speeches and writings. #PhilipGlass #SymphonyNo15 #Lincoln #BostonSymphony #Tanglewood #Baritone #KarenKamensek #ZacharyJames #AmericanMusic #JohnWilliams #Copland #KennedyCenter #ClassicalMusic #PoliticalProtest #Orchestra https://tunitemusic.com/post/the-boston-symphony-orchestra-pemieres-philip-glasss-symphony-no-15lincoln/

What makes human technology unique isn't the use of tools or tool-making, but reflexivity: our technologies can modify themselves. Language updates language, writing amplifies reflexivity, software executes it, and AI participates. https://t.co/2KOzttrV72 #Reflexivity #HumanTechnology #AI #Nospecificcountrycodescanbeidentifiedinthetweetprovided.

💪🏾 Když mohli napsat knihu takoví čuráci, můžu ji napsat i já a lépe. Ta myšlenka mě nechce pustit. Jen mě možná budou chtít pak Cigáni zabít. 😅 Že to dokážu, že jo! #inspiration #writing #family

Building a national identity has been done through the writing of history. Yet American historians have neglected that task in recent decades. In their place, charlatans, stooges, and tyrants have managed to spread myths, prophecies, prejudices and hatreds https://t.co/RcLyWo8afo #NationalIdentity #HistoryMatters #MythBusting #US

Senti, lo so come suona. TESTIMONIANZA ORIGINALE: Never thought I'd be writing this. My dad is 68. Used to farm. Now he's fighting colon cancer. Five weeks ago, I put him on a protocol I put together from what I learned here on X: • 72mg Ivermectin (daily)• 444mg Fenbendazole• 4,000mg Vitamin C• 32oz Hibiscus tea Also fasting, sun, low‑inflammatory food. Yesterday, his new CT scan came back. Tumor shrinkage. But here's the part that really got me. Dad also had this ugly spot on his neck. Basal cell. Been there for years. Growing. So I did something else. I took the same Ivermectin paste – the one from the farm store – and dabbed it on that spot. Three times a day. One month later? The spot is gone. Completely cleared. He called me this morning. His voice was different. "It's gone, son." And me?I've been taking a smaller dose myself – 24mg Ivermectin + 444mg Fenbendazole – just to see what happens. My sleep fixed itself. I wake up without an alarm. I don't crave sugar anymore. I don't even want to over‑eat. I feel… calm. Look, I know how this sounds. Horse paste for cancer? For skin cancer? I laughed too. Then I watched my dad's scans change. I'm not a doctor. I'm just a son who refused to give up. Healing is always possible. Even when it looks crazy. #cancro #guarigione #testimonianza

Giving AI the keys to our art, writing, music, etc... isn't just killing jobs, it's also gutting the entire point of being creative. Art is supposed to be born out of a chaotic mix of love, grief, and pure human obsession. A chatbot doesn't know what a hangover feels like, or what it means to miss someone, or how pain can linger forever...
