A reforma possível do sistema de pensões já foi feita (e pelo PS) através da introdução do factor de sustentabilidade e da fórmula de atualização. Foi a forma de garantir que um mecanismo mal desenhado de origem, mas impossível de reestruturar completamente, não rebentava com a economia (e estava mais protegido de ciclos eleitorais). Restam discussões mais pequenas como investir uma parte maior do fundo de estabilização no mercado de capitais ou a criação de incentivos individuais a poupanças adicionais. São estas duas que gostam de chamar “privatização”. A primeira seria apenas uma forma de rentabilizar mais um ativo da segurança social (utilizado por sindicatos europeus que gerem fundos de pensões). A segunda é só bom senso de ajudar as pessoas a prepararem-se melhor para que não se arrependam mais tarde.
