Yvonne Kussmann wrote that 22-year-old student Marius Dick was stabbed on July 15, 2026, around 10 a.m. in Trier on a pedestrian path by 22-year-old Afghan Sajad M. After the act, Sajad M. was taken to a psychiatric clinic. There is a suspicion that he was incapable of culpability or had diminished culpability due to a mental illness, Kussmann wrote. Sajad M. had already been in a psychiatric clinic before. Despite repeated inquiries, the public prosecutor's office has not yet informed Kussmann whether he was committed at that time due to a danger to others. Marius's parents gave an interview to the Trier Volksfreund. Four weeks after the death of his son, the father suffered a heart attack and had to undergo surgery. He is currently in a rehab clinic and is supposed to come home on the weekend so that his wife and younger son are not alone. Kussmann wrote that Chancellor Merz called the parents shortly after the act because Marius’s mother was politically active in the CDU. The father reportedly urged Merz to immediately deport immigrants who had committed offenses to prevent further acts. This was a promise that Merz had made before the election. The father is now disappointed because, in his view, nothing has happened. He said that such acts could happen to anyone and accused the government of not protecting citizens. He said this would tear the CDU apart and could lead to other parties taking power. Germany is currently at a turning point, he also reportedly said. As of now, Sajad M. has not commented on the act. Kussmann wrote that she is looking forward to the trial with anticipation and fears it could end with an acquittal due to insanity and placement in overcrowded preventive detention. She announced that she would ask the public prosecutor's office again in the following week about the possible conclusion of the investigation and the status of the forensic psychiatric report. The interview can be found in the comments. #Trier #Gewalt #Justiz (translated)

The author wrote that a standalone bungalow from the 1980s with a full basement and 800 square meters of land had initially been offered for 680,000 euros in his street and remained online for one to two years. The most recent asking price was 500,000 euros. A young family with children would have had to extensively renovate and expand the house, which would have incurred an additional cost of around 300,000 euros. With a total expenditure of 800,000 euros, he believed the purchase was neither market-oriented nor affordable. He therefore told his wife that it was unlikely such a family would move in. A few weeks ago, the house was sold to a childless couple in their early 50s who only wanted to renovate and not remodel. The author suggested that the market for single-family homes is still being supported by such examples, but the trend is clearly heading downward. He also mentioned older individuals or people who had inherited as possible buyers for the house. #Immobilienmarkt #Hausverkauf #Einfamilienhaus (translated)
