I am introducing amendments to the law to prevent the possibility of retaining dual citizenship of Latvia and Russia. The parliamentary secretary of the Ministry of the Interior, E. Šnore, is today offering the parties represented in the Saeima to sign amendments to the Citizenship Law so that individuals like P. Aven cannot simultaneously retain both Latvian and Russian citizenship. I trust that all parties will be ready to act not only in words but also in practice against the interests of Russian oligarchs. (translated)

Faktaa ei voi kokonaan kiistää, koska älykkäämmän yleisön silmissä se olisi hävitty peli. Vakavuus myönnetään sivulauseessa, ja sillä ostetaan oikeus siirtää keskustelu sivuraiteelle: onko luvut laskettu kymmeneltä vuodelta vai vuotta kohden, osasiko joku lukea kuvan. Näyttää naiiviiseen silmään ”tunnolliselta” mutta kyse on hallinnasta. Kysymys on myös täysin yhdentekevä. Kun kaikkien ryhmien luvut on laskettu samalta ajanjaksolta, ero pysyy samana. Länsi-Aasiasta tulevia nuoria miehiä epäillään seksuaalirikoksista noin seitsemän kertaa useammin kuin suomalaistaustaisia, laskettiinpa vuodelta tai kymmeneltä. Ministeri ei siis korjannut mitään. Kun samassa viestiketjussa ministeriltä kysytään suoraan, miksi tällaista maahanmuuttoa ylipäätään halutaan, vastaus on tuttua managerin kieltä: perustuslaki, kv-sopimukset ja sääntöpohjainen maailmanjärjestys. "Ei voi sulkea maan perusteella pois." Kukaan ei päätä mitään. Säännöt päättävät, ja ministeri vain toteuttaa. Lait säätää kuitenkin eduskunta. Sopimuksia voi tulkita, neuvotella uudelleen ja irtisanoa. Päättäjä, joka piiloutuu normien taakse, ei ole neutraali - hän on päättäjä, joka on jo tehnyt arvovalintansa ja pyrkii nyt vain pakenemaan vastuutaan siitä.
