As the only one of the once numerous Jewish houses of worship in Vienna, the city temple survived the November pogroms of 1938. It is a good sign for the Republic of Austria and our society that this place is again a home for Jewish women and men today. (vdb) (translated)

Our free way of living and our liberal democracy are threatened. Terror seeks to sow distrust and divide us - it must not win. We must and will stand against it - for freedom, for our open societies, and against hatred. (translated)

2⃣For more than 35 years, King Harald served his country and its people with steadfast dedication, dignity and a profound sense of duty, faithfully embodying his motto: “Alt for Norge” — All for Norway. #KingHarald #AltForNorge #Norway #NO

It is with profound sorrow that I have learned of the passing of his Majesty King Harald V of Norway. My thoughts are with the Royal Family and the people of Norway at this deeply sad hour. 1⃣ #KingHaraldV #Norway #RoyalFamily #NO

The people in Ukraine have been defending their sovereignty and independence for four and a half years. Austria will continue to support Ukraine on the path to a lasting peace. (translated)

I admire the people of Hiroshima - their city is known today, 81 years after the devastating bombing, as an international city of peace. Peace is not a matter of course, but a daily task. (translated)

Austria will therefore continue to consistently advocate for rapid and credible nuclear disarmament, the reduction of the risks of the use of nuclear weapons, and for their prohibition. (translated)

Hiroshima, August 6, 1945, 8:15 AM – this place and this date remind us of the destruction that wars bring. Today we are once again living in a time of great geopolitical tensions, and a new arms race challenges the international order. (translated)

First step: Adjust! We need to directly and concretely mitigate the impacts of the climate crisis and become more resilient. Next step: Get out of fossil energy, rapidly expand renewable energy, combat the causes of the climate crisis. (vdb) (translated)

The moving keynote speech by Maria @by_kalesnikava was an impressive appeal to stand up for freedom, democracy, and human dignity. She peacefully advocated for more democracy in Belarus, in full view of the public. That is called civil courage. (translated)
