ENDELIG ER DET SLUT MED GRATIS TV PÅ KÆRSHOVEDGÅRD! Jeg har fået stoppet, at udviste kriminelle udlændinge kan se både sport og arabisk TV på Kærshovedgård på danskernes regning. Fremover skal de selv betale for det. Og det stopper kun, fordi jeg har stillet en række spørgsmål til ministeren om forholdene på udrejse- og udlændingecentrene. For her kom det frem, at danskerne betaler for, at udlændinge på Udlændingecenter Ellebæk har 30 TV-kanaler til rådighed, herunder Al Jazeera. Ligeledes betaler danskerne for, at udviste kriminelle udlændinge på Kærshovedgård har 10 kanaler til rådighed, herunder diverse sportskanaler, Dubai TV og naturligvis Al Jazeera. Det øger næppe motivationen og incitamentet til at rejse hjem. Derfor var det glædeligt, at ministeren i medierne i dag meldte ud, at det stopper på - i hvert fald på Kærshovedgård. Pudsigt nok samme dag, hvor jeg havde hevet ham i salen for at få svar på, om det virkelig kan være rigtigt, at danskerne skal betale for TV til udlændinge, der er uønskede i Danmark. Det undrer mig til gengæld, at man fra embedsværkets side ikke for længst har gjort ministeren opmærksom på dette, og fået det stoppet. Og det gav mig anledning til at stille en række andre spørgsmål. Blandt andet om, hvor længe det har stået på, og hvem der i sin tid har fået den fantastiske idé, at danske skattekroner skal bruges på at finansiere TV til udviste kriminelle udlændinge. Og gad vide, hvad danskerne ellers betaler for til udlændinge, der absolut intet har at gøre i Danmark? Det har jeg tænkt mig at grave videre i. Når det er sagt, er det dejligt, at ministeren trods alt har handlet og således har fået sat en stopper for skatteyderbetalt TV på Kærshovedgård. From Powerlessness to Collective Madness The world has gone crazy, but there is a pattern behind it. More people seem to be losing their grip on reality, swept up in ideological movements that demand conformity and punish dissent. This progression begins with powerlessness, continues with possession, and ends in resentment disguised as justice. The first stage is the breakdown of what can be called the power process. Human beings need to set goals, work toward them, and achieve them in order to feel whole. Once, daily life revolved around hunting, farming, building, and creating. Today, survival and progress are often managed by vast systems and institutions. As a result, many people feel alienated and powerless. They turn to movements for a sense of purpose, drawing progress not from their personal lives, but from the causes they embrace. Carl Jung described what happens next. Inside a movement, individuals can become possessed by collective identities. Those who refuse the difficult task of becoming themselves may dissolve into the group mind. This is why ideologies such as communism, nationalism, feminism, socialism, and environmentalism can exert such power: they offer ready-made identities and moral clarity. Individuals gradually stop thinking for themselves and become mouthpieces for the collective identity that has seized them. Nietzsche revealed the final stage: resentment. In *Thus Spoke Zarathustra*, he described the “tarantulas”—moral preachers who spin ideological webs in the name of justice. They claim to champion the weak, but their motivation may be envy and revenge, cloaked in noble language. Their goal is not always to uplift, but to tear down the strong. When the world seems to have gone mad, the pattern is clear: people lose the power process in their own lives, surrender themselves to ideologies, and then act out their resentment as justice. The cure is not another movement, but the difficult task of reclaiming individuality in an age of collective madness.

Empathy, Compassion, and the Limits of Emotional Moral Judgment Empathy is widely regarded as a foundation of morality, but psychological research suggests that it is not an unqualified virtue. Paul Bloom (2017) argues that affective empathy—the experience of sharing another person’s feelings—has important limitations when used as a guide for moral judgment. First, empathy is biased. We respond more strongly to suffering that is vivid, identifiable, and psychologically close. Research on the “identifiable victim effect” shows that people can be more willing to help a specific individual than anonymous victims, even when the latter represent a much larger number (Kogut & Ritov, 2005; Lee & Feeley, 2016). Emotional salience therefore does not necessarily correspond to moral significance. Second, empathy is innumerate. Human emotional responses do not naturally scale with the number of people suffering. A single identifiable victim can evoke a powerful response, while thousands or millions of anonymous victims may produce comparatively little emotional engagement. This creates a problem when moral decisions concern suffering on a large scale (Bloom, 2017). Third, empathy can be exhausting. Repeatedly sharing the distress of others may produce empathic distress and emotional fatigue. Research suggests an important distinction between empathic resonance and compassion: while empathic engagement can increase negative affect, compassion can promote positive affect, motivation, and prosocial behaviour (Klimecki et al., 2014; Weng et al., 2013). The implication is not that we should care less. Rather, caring and feeling are not the same thing. Compassion allows us to recognize suffering and remain motivated to alleviate it without necessarily absorbing the suffering ourselves. Empathy may therefore be valuable for human connection, but it is a poor stand-alone system for making large-scale moral decisions. When millions of lives, limited resources, and competing needs are involved, compassion must be combined with reason, evidence, and deliberate judgment. The goal should not be to feel everything others feel. It should be to care deeply enough to help, while remaining clear-headed enough to help effectively.
