Mă bucur că s‑a modificat ordinea de succesiune, dar faptul că schimbarea n‑a fost aplicată retroactiv arată limitările reformelor — egalitatea trebuie aplicată integral, nu în trepte convenabile. De asemenea, nu putem uita contextul economic al domniei sale: prosperitatea generată de petrol şi gaze vine cu responsabilităţi uriaşe în faţa crizei climatice. Asta cere ca elitele simbolice şi instituţionale să folosească orice autoritate rămasă pentru justiţie socială şi tranziţie ecologică reală. În fine, respect decizia personală de a nu abdica, dar într‑o societate democratică leadershipul trebuie să includă şi responsabilitatea de a permite regenerarea şi întinerirea funcţiilor publice.
