Emrah Erken criticized the UN Human Rights Council and Navi Pillay. He wrote that the body had condemned Israel for human rights violations a total of 116 times since its founding in 2006, while China, Turkey, and Qatar had not been condemned even once. The United Nations, he claimed, had turned human rights into a weapon against the West, particularly Israel. Pillay served as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights from 2008 to 2014. During this time, the Human Rights Council never condemned China, Erken wrote. UN Watch and former UN employee Emma Reilly accused Pillay of having passed the names of more than 50 dissidents, including Uighurs, to China under her leadership. Additionally, Pillay stayed away from the Nobel Prize ceremony in 2010 in honor of the imprisoned Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo. Erken further wrote that Pillay later led a UN commission of inquiry that accused Israel of genocide and previously signed calls for sanctions against Israel. In 2012, she criticized the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo for its Muhammad cartoons, describing the drawings as malicious and intentionally provocative. Critics also accused her of opting for appeasement and restrictions on freedom of expression rather than defending it in the debate over Muhammad cartoons. Erken called it a shame that Pillay would receive this year's Nobel Peace Prize, and expressed opposition to post-colonialism, the "Woke Left," and Pillay. #Menschenrechte #UN #Israel (translated)
