QUELLE FEMME !

Freerepublic: As a Greek-American, I went to see The Odyssey three weeks ago with eager anticipation. At the time, the Rotten Tomatoes scores had dropped into the 60s—significantly down from the high 90s where they started. I ended up walking out after 90 minutes. Two other couples had already bailed around the one-hour mark. Only one guy remained sitting up in high right corner of the theater. It was clearly the worst movie I have ever seen, and after 70 years of watching movies, that says a lot. My brother, who still lives in Chicago where we grew up, saw it the day before. He leans left but is a sharp, reliable judge of cinema. He thought it was downright terrible, but to his credit, he didn't say a word about it until I’d seen it for myself. I was furious and deeply disappointed. I felt like I was eight years old again and someone had just stolen my bike. I was so moved to speak out that I sat down and took the time to write a thoughtful, honest review for Rotten Tomatoes, giving it a well-deserved 1 star. I posted my piece here, too, and almost everyone in the thread agreed with me. Anyone reading my review would know I’d actually watched the film—I pointed out that the classic Sinbad the Sailor movies of my youth were far better than this snoozefest. In closing, I wrote that if I’m ever on my deathbed with only a few hours left to live, I’m going to pray to God to give me back the time I wasted on The Odyssey, including the drive to and from the theater. Now, to get to the point: the RT scores have somehow bounced right back up to the mid-90s. I went back to read the recent reviews, and they’re almost entirely one-sentence, 5-star fluff posts. And guess what? My detailed review was completely scrubbed. Has this happened to anyone else?

Today I start the series of articles about my beloved place in Africa which is #Zanzibar island. I'll start from the question, many people ask themselves while planning the first trip there: Shall we go and visit Nungwi or Paje? Two very different faces of Zanzibar Both have beautiful beaches, both have excellent accommodation, both attract international travelers, but choosing between them isn't really about which one is "better". It's about asking: what kind of Zanzibar do you want to experience? If your ideal holiday means a beautiful resort, easy swimming, spectacular sunsets and long days on the beach, Nungwi or Kendwa may be exactly what you're looking for. But if you want something more active and social, Paje deserves serious consideration. Paje has become one of the best-known kitesurfing destinations on Zanzibar. Its huge tidal lagoon creates an unusual landscape that changes dramatically throughout the day. At low tide, the ocean retreats and reveals an enormous stretch of sand and shallow water. At high tide, the same landscape turns into a turquoise lagoon. But Paje isn't only about kitesurfing. The town has developed a surprisingly diverse food scene, with Swahili cuisine, seafood, international restaurants, vegetarian options, cafés and brunch spots. There are beach bars, live music, DJs and nightlife. And perhaps most importantly, Paje attracts a very international community of travelers. Kitesurfers. Divers. Backpackers. Couples. Digital nomads. Independent travelers. People who don't necessarily want a traditional package holiday. Paje is also a good base for exploring the southern and eastern parts of Zanzibar. Jozani Forest, Jambiani, the Blue Lagoon, The Rock Restaurant, Kizimkazi and many other attractions can be reached relatively easily. This creates an interesting difference between the two destinations. Nungwi is a destination. Paje is both a destination and a base for exploration. And that's why Paje may be particularly attractive to travelers who want to combine: beach + adventure + food + culture + nightlife. You can spend the morning kitesurfing, have lunch in town, explore the island in the afternoon, watch the sunset, listen to live music and return to your own apartment at the end of the day. Please let me know what is your experience with Zanzibar, which destinations are your favorite ones and why? Today I start the series of posts and I will go beyond Zanzibar as we go further. #Zanzibar #Paje #PajeZanzibar #ZanziDream #ZanzibarTravel #ZanzibarHoliday #Tanzania #Kitesurfing #ZanzibarKitesurfing #TravelAfrica #AfricaTravel #ZanzibarBeaches #ZanzibarTravelGuide #tourism #trip #Africa #Tnzania #italy #germany #france #netherlands #poland

On Sunday, July 5, 2026, the Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO) premiered Philip Glass’s latest masterpiece, Symphony No. 15 “Lincoln,” at its summer home in Lenox, Massachusetts. The eight‑movement work, composed between 2021 and 2023, couples a solo baritone with a full orchestra to present a sonic portrait of the 16th President, drawing directly from Lincoln’s own speeches and writings. #PhilipGlass #SymphonyNo15 #Lincoln #BostonSymphony #Tanglewood #Baritone #KarenKamensek #ZacharyJames #AmericanMusic #JohnWilliams #Copland #KennedyCenter #ClassicalMusic #PoliticalProtest #Orchestra https://tunitemusic.com/post/the-boston-symphony-orchestra-pemieres-philip-glasss-symphony-no-15lincoln/
