Osirak nikdy nebyl civilním zařízením, které by „později mohlo být zneužito k vojenským účelům“. Šlo o zbrojní program s obchodní smlouvou, která Židům zakazovala na projektu pracovat. Saddám ale bombu nezískal. Dne 7. června 1981 Izrael reaktor zničil ještě před zahájením štěpné řetězové reakce. OSN útok odsoudila. Rozhovor z roku 1975 téměř nikdo necitoval.
