Zugleich ist die AfD-Fraktion proaktiv auf das BSW zugegangen und hat vorgeschlagen, gemeinsam einen unabhängigen Kandidaten für das Amt des Ministerpräsidenten zu prüfen. Dieses Gesprächsangebot wurde mehrfach erneuert, ohne dass daraus bislang eine tragfähige Verständigung entstanden ist.
