MWGFD e. V. reported on the case of Ruth Gadé, a courier driver from Hamburg born in 1965, who allegedly stood as a bystander at the edge of a demonstration on January 13, 2022. When police officers approached her, she showed them a certificate for asthma. One of the officers allegedly referred to the doctor as the issuer of bogus certificates, confiscated the copy of the certificate, and temporarily wanted to retain her identification. Gadé subsequently filed a complaint against the supervisory authority. The basis for her certificate was an asthma condition diagnosed by a pulmonologist in 2017. According to the association, Gadé's companion, who had been to the same doctor and experienced the same examination, received a penalty order for 1,200 euros for using an incorrect health certificate. Gadé's suspicion that the charge against her was intensified due to her stance on the mask mandate is her assumption; according to MWGFD, the prosecutor argued that Gadé had requested the certificate primarily in rejection of the mask mandate. According to the association, Gadé was defended pro bono by Tom Lausen. On February 27, 2025, the Hamburg-Harburg District Court acquitted her. The judgment became final on April 3, after the public prosecutor's office withdrew its appeal. She did not receive the written judgment until July 1, 2025.
