ODE TO PIER This is not the first time I write praises for the "phenomenon" Pierrakakis and his meteoric rise in the government -- and in Europe. However, I am tempted to remind, whenever I see him on television, that besides the apparent value and broad ministerial talent (we all remember his achievements at the Digital Ministry, before he ascended to European economic thrones), he is also a phenomenon of longevity in the blue environment, which hostilely (like white blood cells) rejects anything "foreign," that is, non-partisan, because Pier came from PASOK. I somewhat know the partisanship of the New Democracy members and how difficult it is for Kyriakos to utilize talents that do not wear his party’s uniform. Whenever he tries, however, he succeeds spectacularly, and ministers like Pier pull the party's cart up slopes that it itself, even while wheezing, would not have climbed. Perhaps not, but surely, in the run-up to next year's elections, Kyriakos's wavering voters, who are not very fond of partisanship, will add to their dilemmas, tightly close to Kyriakos, and star-ministers like Pier, who against the current, gave the government, without populist tricks, the polish of high caliber and the depth of tangible knowledge of a complex subject. Pier is not just an exceptional minister of the New Democracy government; he is... a social good! P.S. Oh, the whining this note will provoke in partisanship! (translated)
