🚨 ATENÇÃO! Capitão de Cabo Verde, atacante Ryan Mendes é investigado por estupro de brasileira. A investigação é feita pela Polícia da Nova Zelândia. O caso ocorreu em março, no hotel onde a seleção de Cabo Verde estava hospedada para amistosos na Oceania, e está sob investigação desde 10 de abril. O GE teve acesso a fotos de hematomas que foram entregues à Polícia, ao registro da denúncia e ao relatório médico, com exames e atendimento psicológico. A brasileira estava no local contratada pela Federação Neozelandesa de Futebol como intérprete para Cabo Verde, cujo idioma é o português. Ela relatou à Polícia que, após o jogo de Cabo Verde contra o Chile, foi convidada para uma reunião em uma sala no hotel e compareceu imaginando que atuaria como intérprete. No entanto, ela observou que se tratava de uma confraternização e voltou para o seu quarto ao se sentir mal. Relata que pouco depois ouviu batidas na porta do quarto e abriu, pensando se tratar de uma solicitação de apoio do trabalho. Foi neste momento, segundo a denúncia, que Ryan Mendes entrou no quarto, agrediu-a fisicamente, com esganaduras, socos e mordidas, à medida que ela tentou se defender, e a estuprou. A brasileira fotografou lesões, como cortes na boca, hematomas no pescoço, na perna e na lateral do corpo, que foram vistas pelo GE. As imagens que a identificavam foram preservadas pela reportagem. Atendida em uma clínica que auxilia sobreviventes de violência sexual, a brasileira foi submetida a exame forense. O relatório médico identificou múltiplas esquemoses (ou manchas roxas) nas mamas, no pescoço e nos lábios, além de áreas de sensibilidade no couro cabeludo e nas nádegas. No exame genital, há o registro de "duas lesões circulares, dolorosas à palpação, na base dos pequenos lábios". Após a assistência da clínica, que ainda presta atendimento psicológico a ela, a brasileira fez o registro de ocorrência policial e passou por uma perícia na delegacia. Ela relata que procurou a Federação Cabo-Verdiana de Futebol, mas não obteve apoio. A brasileira e o marido enviaram notificações extrajudiciais à Federação de Cabo Verde e à FIFA, com o relato, provas e um pedido de punição: a não participação do jogador na Copa do Mundo. No dia 20, preencheram o formulário de Safeguarding da FIFA, usado para denúncias.
