In Ankara ging het over NAVO-samenwerking op politiek niveau en met de defensie-industrie. Vandaag op Vliegbasis Leeuwarden zag ik hoe goed samenwerking in de militaire praktijk werkt. Tijdens een trainingsdag van de Weapons Instructor Course (WIC) keek ik mee hoe vliegers en andere specialisten van verschillende Europese luchtmachten onder Nederlandse leiding worden opgeleid tot tactische leiders van het hoogste niveau. Momenteel trainen hier Nederlandse vliegers met collega’s uit België, Denemarken, Finland en Noorwegen. Indrukwekkend om te zien en mooi om te spreken met verschillende vliegers en het ondersteunend personeel over hun ervaringen. Dit is de kracht van de NAVO en van Europese samenwerking daarbinnen.
