18. září 1994 – Ze Staroměstské náměstí v Praze odjel na kole na tříletou cestu kolem světa Vítězslav Dostál, první Čech, který takovou cestu vykonal. 👍👍👍 Představa spojení bicyklu a putování přitahovala Dostála už od dětství. První kolo dostal v šesti letech. A záhy na sobě začal pracovat. Po parašutismu na konci sedmdesátých let se stal přeborníkem v triatlonu a několikanásobným držitelem titulu železný muž. Následovaly horolezecké výstupy a horské přechody v Tatrách, na Pirinu a v Rocky Mountains. Prokládal je cykloexpedicemi do evropských zemí. Když ho omrzela Evropa, ujel v roce 1990 na trase Los Angeles - New York 7500 kilometrů. A o dva roky později přes 5000 kilometrů v rozpáleném australském vnitrozemí z Darwinu do Melbourne. V témže roce projel i časovku Aš - Čierná nad Tisou. „Jsem připraven,“ prohlásil tehdy. „Dalo by se do toho šlápnout.“ Naložil si kolo a vyrazil na cestu kolem světa. Ze Staroměstského náměstí 18. září 1994. Odtud to vzal na Plzeň a potom osmapadesáti státy pěti kontinentů. Jel na upraveném kole české výroby značky Velamos. Za jízdy se naučil jíst, pít, a dokonce se převléknout. Ze sedla zvládl fotografovat, filmovat, nahrávat na diktafon i otočit kazetu. Nekonečné hodiny jízdy, to byla pro osamělého cyklistu prý i dobrá příležitost k meditaci. Během tříletého maratónu zažil zemětřesení, hurikán v Indonésii, písečné bouře v Tibetu či havárii vrtulníku v Nepálu. V Tunisku ho napadli toulaví psi, v Číně roj divokých včel, v Argentině přežil srážku s kamiónem a tři přepadení. V Brazílii zase přiotrávený výfukovými plyny neustále zvracel a hrozila mu dehydratace. Ledový vítr se mu opíral do propocených zad. Bolest byla někdy tak nesnesitelná, že se nemohl ani postavit na nohy. Ale jeho vůle vydržela vše. Stejně jako jeho kolo. Na prvních pedálech dojel až do australského Sydney. Během cesty nasadil čtyři rezervní řetězy a stejný počet sedmikoleček. Vyměnil sedm zadních kol, dvě přední a celou hromadu drátů. Cesta spolkla 28 plášťů a nespočet duší. Defektů bylo celkem 107; poslední Víťu překvapil u Berouna. Prasklý nosič, vyztužený vším, co bylo po ruce, vydržel až do Prahy. Před pomníkem mistra Jana Husa slezl vytrvalý cyklista z kola v září 1997. Našlapal 59 460 kilometrů, s cestou domů celkem 60 000. #cestování #cyklistika #historie
