Brief – Overzicht van mijn ziekteverloop Geachte lezer, Graag wil ik u informeren over mijn medische situatie en het verloop van de afgelopen periode. Ik ben Jack, bijna 65 jaar, en samen met mijn vrouw Marja, bijna 64 jaar, hebben wij drie kinderen en drie kleinkinderen: Rayan, Alisha en Liana. Begin van de klachten Eind september kreeg ik een griep die niet over wilde gaan. Begin oktober bezocht ik mijn huisarts, die bloed liet prikken. De volgende dag werd ik gebeld met de mededeling dat mijn bloedwaarden niet goed waren: de ontstekingswaarden waren te hoog en de bloedwaarden te laag. Op 16 januari werd de diagnose in het Erasmus MC bevestigd. Start van de behandeling Eind januari kreeg ik medicatie voorgeschreven: Avapritinib 100 mg. Dit medicijn mag alleen worden voorgeschreven door het Erasmus MC en het UMCG. Mijn lichaam moest wennen aan de medicatie, maar helaas ontstond er een ernstige bijwerking. Door de combinatie met de mestcellen in mijn lichaam ontstond er vochtophoping in mijn buik. Ziekenhuisopnames Ik werd opgenomen in het Amphia Ziekenhuis, waar een drain werd geplaatst om het vocht af te tappen. In totaal werd er 26 liter vocht verwijderd. Na een verhoging van de medicatie kreeg ik opnieuw last van vochtophoping, waarna nog eens 18 liter werd afgetapt. Een derde opname volgde na een dosisaanpassing, waarbij 12 liter vocht werd verwijderd. Na deze opnames is besloten om plasmedicatie te geven om het vocht beter onder controle te houden. Nieuwe complicaties Half augustus kreeg ik pijnstilling voor mijn rug voorgeschreven. Hier reageerde ik heftig op: ik had vier dagen last van overgeven en diarree, waardoor ik niet zelfstandig kon lopen. Marja heeft mij in deze periode geholpen en ondersteund. De klachten hielden drie weken aan. Voeding en triggers Op dit moment ben ik bezig om te ontdekken welke voedingsmiddelen klachten veroorzaken. Voorlopig moet ik onder andere alcohol, chocolade, tomaten, vis en producten uit blik vermijden, omdat deze de mestcellen activeren.
