The only 3 marriages in my close circle that have 3 or more children received significant support from their parents in raising the kids. Little is said and written about this, but grandparents no longer want to help with their grandchildren. They have fairly high pensions that allow for more than just survival, as it was 30 years ago and back. So they prefer to go on all-in trips or other attractions than to help with their grandchildren. Despite the fact that we have a relatively wealthy society, especially compared to a few decades ago, the lack of support from grandparents is noticeable. It's a matter of dropping off a grandchild for 2-3 hours to take care of something, or for a weekend to catch a breath. A friend, a new father, recently heard from his mother that she can take care of the child for a maximum of half an hour and doesn't agree to more because she has more interesting things to do. And to put it bluntly - in my circle of close friends - such words are not isolated. I won't even mention the fact that young parents often live quite far from their own parents, so even that physical help is complicated. That's why it often ends with one child, maybe two. To be fair - we also stopped at two, mainly for health reasons, and we lacked the courage for adoption, like P. @Agata_Laurka 👏👏 (translated)
