The article criticizes the lack of significant achievements of Donald Trump at the summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, who takes away diplomatic advantages, while Trump's policy and relationship with dictators evidently contribute to the decline of American influence on the world stage. Beautiful scene. A cassock, peaceful faithful, a confession on the sidewalk. Freedom of worship in the public space. Nothing more secular. The RN will find it charming. Replace the cassock with a veil, and the Republic collapses. Apparently. (translated)

Generation Léon! Maybe it is after all the "new France"? This young and mixed crowd gathered in Saint Denis, where for one improbable evening we found both Bally Bagayoko and Father Raffray, the Scouts of France and the Scouts of Europe, Glorious and the Holy Tunic... As if we had witnessed that evening a new generation of Catholics, not truly born before our eyes - it had already been born in the emotion of Notre-Dame in flames, in the renewal of catechumenate or the success of the pilgrimage to Chartres - but finally forging an identity, finding a common denominator. Or simply a name. Generation Léon! Catholic youth aware of its differences but no longer wanting to make them fractures. A generation reconciled with itself, knowing it is too much of a minority to afford the luxury of being divided. The elders have alternately been annoyed or delighted, according to their respective sensitivities, in the face of Benedict XVI and Francis: a right-wing pope, a left-wing pope... Léon neither denies the doctrinal demands of the former nor the inexhaustible call to charity of the latter, but invites with his peaceful bonhomie and discreet joy to supplant divisions, in order to focus on the only thing that truly matters: to make every effort to proclaim the gospel... so that the world may have life! For this generation Léon is alive: in motion, constantly searching for new projects (new pilgrimages, new media, new missionary works…). It arrives perhaps less self-assured than the previous generations: aware of its own doubts, the fragilities of the ecclesial institution that it has not stopped loving for all that, and especially aware of the dizzying challenges that await it. Starting with this one: how to continue to keep humanity alive despite the increasingly pressing temptation to plunge into the "paradise of machines" that the pope described with Bernanos' words? Thus, in a spectacular staging worthy of the most beautiful shows at Puy du Fou, this initial response came as an obvious revelation under the light of fireworks: the crowd of saints who have woven fifteen centuries of Christian history in France are, more surely than the pillars of Notre-Dame, a living support to build this emerging generation. Their example is also a call. "You are the saints of France!" the pope declared. Saints who cannot help but take selfies, who can no longer even manage to respect a few seconds of silence in a stadium and who all posted their memories of that night on their stories as soon as they got home - but after all, isn't the true essence of saints to have been of their time? Yet the times are here, the church bells still ring, we have seen in the festive city young and old rush through the streets to gather on the path of the pope and this Léon, who is surely neither the most charismatic nor the most original of Peter's successors, managed, just by looking at it with his joyful eye, to give that scattered crowd a deep sense of unity and collective pride. Long live the pope and long live France! (translated)

⚡️🇫🇷FLASH - "Imperturbable Jean-Luc #Mélenchon," title Le Parisien. Thursday, before starting an interview for Politico, the candidate nearly faced a disaster. A retractable metal screen weighing several dozen kilograms crashed just a few centimeters from him, on the path leading to the set where he was to be interviewed. A few minutes later, he gave an interview as if nothing had happened. Witnesses of the scene saw it as a sign of fate. "He is going to win the #presidential election," assures one of them, still dazed... (translated)

Called out after suspicions of violence against her son, the actress from the M6 series "Scènes de Ménages", Anne-Elisabeth Blateau was sentenced to attend a parental responsibility course and a therapeutic injunction. (translated)

Elena Pero, the infinite talent in an ordinary person At 60, the voice of tennis for Sky suddenly went silent: in an era of frenzied and possessed commentators, Elena, very skilled and very nice, was a survivor of a time that no longer exists. I arrived at Mediaset, or rather at Fininvest's TV in October 1988; I was 34 years old. My office at Palazzo dei Cigni in Milanodue was adjacent to Rino Tommasi's, and shortly after, I saw Elena Pero arrive, whom Rino had chosen, out of a thousand, as his personal assistant and collaborator since she knew everything about tennis that the human mind could possibly know: and if Rino Tommasi said it, there’s nothing more to add. Elena was 22 years old, she was shy but always smiling, quiet but always witty whenever you had the chance to exchange a few words with her, perhaps at the coffee machine: she was extraordinarily intelligent, extraordinarily ironic (and self-ironic), extraordinarily likable. Like me, who had chosen to work behind the scenes, as a writer and program curator without appearing on video, Elena also appreciated the low profile: appearing was not what she desired, and this predisposition to discretion and reserve that united us made us somehow accomplices. Newsrooms, I believe I can say of any TV, are teeming - I say this with all possible respect - with overgrown children of 30, 40, and 50 years who have never grown up whose only reason for living - I mean everyday life - is to put, as the saying goes, their faces on television. Everything else doesn't matter. As someone once said: card and badge. After a while, Rino Tommasi moved to Sky, and Elena, who in the meantime had dated the most timid, quiet, and kind producer of Fininvest, Sergio Velli, naturally followed him. It was the early 90s, and everything Elena Pero would have thought of, except that one day she would become the voice of tennis for Sky upon the retirement of her mentor and great teacher, Rino Tommasi. To say how good Elena was as a commentator, and how she managed to remain herself in an era when commentators are required to be, first of all, shouty, frenzied, and obsessed, is superfluous. You could have asked Elena anything, but not to stop being the "normal person" that she had tenaciously and convincingly chosen to be, I believe, since she was a child. I cared for her especially for this. And now that she is no longer with us, as I embrace Sergio and Martina, who lost her too soon, I feel a subtle but strong sadness wash over me: not having ever told her that knowing her was a pleasure, a fun, and an honor for me. The Rakušan is devouring partners and climbing to the top. Marek Stoniš contacted me. That Marek Stoniš whom I couldn't stand in my trust in a liberal society 5 to 6 years ago. That Marek Stoniš, who was euroskeptical even before I was and who terrified me in the editorial of Reflex, even in my dreams. Today I see it differently and I am starting to appreciate Marek Stoniš more and more. When he led Reflex, many successful people grew under him, who today cannot stand his name. Bohumil Pečinka, Petros Michopulos, Čestmír Strakatý, Martin Bartkovský - all of them worked under Stoniš and got the space, thanks to which they now have their own audiences, whether we agree with them or not. One thing no one can take from Marek Stoniš. As a manager, he always allowed people to grow and often even those whose views contradicted his own. It’s hard to imagine something similar with Michopulos or Bartkovský. Out of respect, which is slowly disappearing from the world today, I therefore wrote a text for the magazine TO led by Stoniš and I took unusual care with it. It's about the origins, establishment, and history of the STAN movement with a focus on Víta Rakušan. At first, STAN was "created" by Polčák with Gazdík and Michalik, but secretly, behind the white horses Besser, Pecková, and Rakušan. Gangsters in the background, values in the foreground. In this way, the "Stanaři" still disguise themselves today as the hypothetical YES for liberals. Then came the Dozimetr scandal, and everything changed. Víta Rakušan survived, got rid of uncomfortable partners, Gazdík and Polčák ended up in the dustbin of history, and gangsters were replaced by leading billionaires, liberal sponsors, and value patrons. Slowly but surely, the STAN movement was also nibbling at ODS of Petr Fiala, so that the party is now devouring increased paces. The reason for the current successful transformation of the white horse into an all-capable opposition leader is simple. Víta Rakušan's new alliances include media house owners, whose protection is absolutely crucial for the STAN movement. The same people also support Petr Pavel, which has brought Rakušan to the best marketers in the market - those who "created" the current head of state. To make matters worse, Víta Rakušan has closed another crucial alliance - this one with Ursula von der Leyen. The STAN movement remains the only party in Leyen’s faction (EPP) that has strength on the domestic scene. For Leyen to survive, she needs to succeed in the 2029 elections, and the Czech guarantor of that success is none other than Víta Rakušan. The increasingly desperate leader of the European Commission will do everything possible and impossible for her horses. Media promotion? No problem. Will systems like RRS, DSA, and other "protective walls of democracy" be used in Rakušan's favor? We'll see. From the white horse of gangsters and crooks like Redl, Polčák, Gazdík, and Michalik, Rakušan has moved to the very top. He is the leader of the opposition and is backed by Prague Castle and the most powerful woman in Europe. Other opposition parties do not realize that their fate has already been decided a long time ago. They are not members of the right European faction and do not have Rakušan's connections. The leader of the STAN movement is thus gradually swallowing one after the other and climbing to the very top on their backs. Will this succeed? Will Rakušan become the Czech Péter Magyar, as he plans? I also address this in the main article of the new issue of the magazine TO. I saw the issue, and besides a number of interesting texts, I must point out the beautiful piece about 30 not-so-famous heroes of the terrorist attack on October 7 in Israel. I can tell when someone puts effort into the text, and this work is literally perfect, exceptionally sad, but it also encourages reflection on whether we ourselves would find the courage in a crisis or not. The story of 85-year-old Shlomo Ron, who hid his family, arranged the house to appear as if he lived alone, and voluntarily allowed himself to be shot for the sake of saving his loved ones, will shake even the strongest temperaments. So hurry to the newsstands, it's worth it :) Shalom. (translated)
