Joost Jansen wrote that he had Chat prepare a speech for Rob Jetten in response to serious riots in Amsterdam. The proposed text stated that violence against society was unacceptable, while demonstrating and expressing criticism were part of democracy. The speech proposed three measures: maintaining the rule of law, supporting victims and affected entrepreneurs, and investigating the causes of social tensions. The text also stated that researching those causes was no excuse for violence. The recovery of trust, according to the speech, would depend on consistent action and rules that applied to everyone. #Amsterdam #democratie #veiligheid (translated)

Maurits Vande Reyde wrote that, in his opinion, the media repeatedly selected testimonies from people who were active in the PVDA in reports about the consequences of a smaller government. He stated that one of them said they had to skip meals due to the policy but had money for solidarity trips to Cuba. The measure in question limited child benefits to the age of 23, Vande Reyde wrote. He added that there were exceptions for cases with valid reasons and risk of poverty, but claimed that these did not apply to the activists involved. According to Vande Reyde, the same PVDA activists were at the forefront of various protests, from climate marches to protests against coalition agreements. He also claimed that the media once portrayed an adult PVDA member of parliament as a protesting student. Vande Reyde wrote that this kind of reporting was a reason for the historically low trust in the media. #Media #België #PVDA (translated)

Max von Kreyfelt wrote in a column that Dutch bureaucracy, according to him, was slowing down the work of people who create things and maintained a large system of assessors, advisors, and task forces. He suggested that housing construction and entrepreneurship were facing more and more procedures, while shortages of skilled workers were being addressed with new task forces. He also wrote that citizens had to first demonstrate that they could survive financially before they were allowed to start a business, and that construction plans had to go through participation and policy procedures. He argued that people with the right contacts could navigate the system more easily and that mistakes made by officials were treated differently than those made by citizens. Those who asked questions were told, according to him, that trust in institutions needed to be restored, with a campaign funded by taxpayers. Von Kreyfelt referred to a warning from Ayn Rand and wrote that, in his view, the Netherlands was enabling fewer people to create things while more and more people were explaining why decisions were made carefully. He also mentioned that his collection was for sale and asked readers to support him. https://t.co/V2P6pFuNy1 #Nederland #overheid #ondernemen (translated)
