The Arctic is becoming one of the most strategically important regions in the world, and Greenland sits at the centre of it: shipping routes, critical raw materials and geopolitical interests that reach beyond the region. The Fracture That Kills the Family The West’s deepest divide may not be left versus right, but whether young men and women still share a vision of the good life. The nuclear family is society’s foundation, yet households struggle to form when the sexes view each other as opponents. Many women see marriage as patriarchal; many men see women as manipulative or exploitative. Relationships shift from mutual union to zero-sum power struggles. Christianity framed marriage as union—two people becoming one. Nietzsche warned the death of God would remove a shared moral foundation, leaving society vulnerable to nihilism and fragmentation. We are living that fragmentation. Young men often retreat into pornography, gaming, and prolonged adolescence. Young women increasingly frame sexual liberation as empowerment. Both chase proximate pleasures while losing ultimate purposes: family, responsibility, continuity, and creating life. Dating data reflects the fracture: among unmarried Americans aged 22–35, only 26% of women and 36% of men are actively dating. Ideology filters matches too—Gen Z and young millennials cite political compatibility far more than Boomers. Research also finds a mismatch: only 0.6 single liberal men per single liberal woman, and only 0.5 single conservative women per conservative man. Cross-ideological pairing has risen from 6% in the 1970s to 22% today. The consequences extend beyond dating: fertility has fallen below replacement across much of the West, and 42% of American adults were unpartnered in 2023. Policy responses—tax incentives, parental leave, baby bonuses—miss the deeper cultural and spiritual problem: you can debate taxes, but it’s hard to build a family when you disagree on masculinity, whether marriage is oppressive, or whether family is worth sacrificing for. The values gap is the disease. The political divide is the symptom. The household is the casualty—and when it cracks, everything built above it loses stability. The question is whether a civilization can survive when the two people it most needs to unite can no longer agree why they should.
How Feminism Turned Government Into a Daycare For decades, we heard “the future is female.” That future is here—if not in the way people expected. The slogan surfaced in the 1970s among feminist and lesbian activists, resurfaced in 2015 after designer Rachel Burks rediscovered a 1975 photo, and then spread through merchandise and mainstream politics. By 2016 it was used by Hillary Clinton supporters; after her loss, Clinton embraced it. But the real story isn’t the phrase—it’s the institutional shift. Helen Andrews, in “The Great Feminization,” notes that feminism is often framed as progress through votes, universities, or jobs. Yet the decisive tipping point came later, especially from 2015 to 2020, when whole institutions began turning female. The numbers show it: in 1974, women were 10% of New York Times reporters; now they’re about 55%. The Atlantic’s editorial staff shifted from 53% male in 2013 to 36% male in 2024. This reaches beyond journalism: medical schools became majority-female in 2019; women formed the majority of the college-educated workforce that year, became a majority of college instructors by 2023, and now make up about 46% of managers. This isn’t just individuals moving into male-coded fields. It’s institutions changing with their demographics—shifting preferences, priorities, and norms. In many ways, feminism has already won access; now the question is what happens when institutions are increasingly shaped by women. We haven’t studied this before. We’re the experiment.
When Failure Becomes a Demand for More A worldview that persists despite its unending list of failures is not interested in truth but in power. Consider how its adherents respond to the breakdown of their policies. They do not believe that multiculturalism itself has failed; they believe it was not implemented forcefully enough, or that the host nation was not subjected to enough propaganda promoting compulsory compassion. It is not that gender dysphoria is a mental illness; they argue that society simply has not normalized it enough. It is not that safe supply has failed; it merely has not been expanded enough. Decriminalization is not a bad idea, they insist. We simply failed to provide criminals with enough free resources and support programs before implementing it. Friedrich Nietzsche expressed the idea of suicidal empathy in his own words nearly a century and a half before Saad. In *Beyond Good and Evil*, he described a society that had grown so “pathologically soft and tender that it sides even with those who harm it.” Once society reaches this stage, he observed, anything that raises a person above the herd or intimidates their neighbors is declared evil. Mediocrity becomes the highest achievement.
It is starting to seem like there is something wrong with the Japanese PM. It goes beyond “eccentricity”. The country’s place in the post-WW2 world is falling apart and its economy is unwinding. Meanwhile its leader is talking to bugs. 🇯🇵😬 #Japan #PoliticalLeadership #Economy #JP

America has in fact become a low trust society, we're just negotiating out what that means. There really are unspoken rules. Have felt borderline gaslit many times over. But of course, there are expectations beyond this in some pockets of the U.S. economy, and importantly this #LowTrustSociety #Gaslighting #USEconomy #US
I believe mRNA could reshape medicine far beyond infectious disease. In cancer, it can teach the immune system what to kill. In autoimmune disease, it may do the opposite: teach the immune system what to tolerate again. Same platform. Opposite immune instruction.
