Ingenieure, Entwickler, Planer. Am Freitag meldete die Bundesagentur für Arbeit 3 Millionen Arbeitslose. Wie weit das inzwischen geht, zeigt ein einziges Telefonat, über das die Financial Times berichtet. Volkswagen habe einen externen Personalvermittler beauftragt, für 400 bis 500 Manager neue Stellen zu suchen. Der Vermittler habe abgelehnt. Begründung: So viele offene Führungspositionen gebe es im gesamten Markt nicht. Volkswagen baut bis 2030 bereits rund 50.000 Stellen in Deutschland ab. Konzernchef Oliver Blume hat im Juli noch einmal die gleiche Größenordnung weltweit ins Spiel gebracht. Finanzvorstand Arno Antlitz nannte bei den Quartalszahlen den Grund: Die Verwaltungskosten lägen 30 Prozent über dem Niveau anderer Hersteller. Porsche hat am 27. Juli weitere 5.000 Stellen bis 2035 angekündigt, vor allem in Zuffenhausen und Weissach. Der Konzernüberschuss war 2025 um 91 Prozent auf 310 Millionen Euro eingebrochen. Zwei Tage später folgte BMW mit rund 8.000 Stellen bis Ende 2027. Ab Oktober bekommen dort etwa 40.000 der rund 85.000 deutschen Beschäftigten ein persönliches Abfindungsangebot. Fast jeder Zweite im Land bekommt Post mit der Frage, ob er gegen Geld freiwillig geht. Betroffen ist diesmal fast ausschließlich das Büro. Entwicklung, Produktplanung, Verwaltung. Also exakt die Qualifikationen, für die dieses Land jahrelang um Zuwanderung geworben hat. In der Statistik ist der Schaden längst sichtbar. Nach Berechnungen der Prüfungsgesellschaft EY sind in der deutschen Autoindustrie seit 2019 rund 125.800 Arbeitsplätze verschwunden, jeder siebte in der Branche. Die Zahl der Erwerbstätigen in Deutschland liegt 225.000 unter dem Vorjahr. Gemeldet sind noch 653.000 offene Stellen im ganzen Land, quer über alle Berufe. Und die Politik? Der Industriestrompreis von rund fünf Cent gilt rückwirkend ab Januar 2026, genehmigt wurde er im April. Beantragen können Unternehmen ihn frühestens 2027. Die europäischen Regeln für Verbrennungsmotoren ab 2035 liegen seit Dezember als Entwurf vor, entschieden wird im Herbst, vielleicht. Die Konzerne warten nicht auf Berlin und nicht auf Brüssel. Sie planen mit dem, was heute gilt, und heute gilt Unsicherheit. Die härteste Zahl dieser Woche steht in keiner Bilanz, sondern steckt in der Antwort des Personalvermittlers.
