I have got a new hero - he was stabbed by his own co-pilot, but still saved everyone on board. Smit Machchhar was the captain of a plane heading to Israel when he was attacked and stabbed by his co-pilot, who according to Israeli authorities tried to make the plane crash. The plane began to dive violently, but badly injured and bleeding, Machchhar managed to unlock the cockpit door. This allowed brave passengers and crew members to overpower the attacker and stabilize the plane. Everyone on board survived. What those people did, I have enormous respect for. In the midst of horror, they took responsibility for each other and for strangers in the rows behind them. And the captain, who himself desperately needed help, found the strength to give the others a chance. It's difficult to fully comprehend. Smit Machchhar's and the others' efforts mean that many families can now experience birthdays instead of funerals, that children can embrace their parents again, and that people who believed yesterday they would die are allowed to return to their very ordinary lives. These are the kinds of heroes we want to tell our children about in the future. Because they inspire us with hope and courage! (translated)
