The author shared a statement from Garry Kasparov and argued that conversations with Vladimir Putin would solve nothing, as his strategic goals, according to the statement, were non-negotiable for him and his opponents. The author directed that message to people he described as Putin sympathizers, collaborators, and naives, and tagged Kasparov, VTM NIEUWS, PVDA Belgium, Vlaams Belang, and Tom Sauer. https://t.co/oi6CMIw229 #Poetin #Politiek #Strategie #RU #BE (translated)

Rik Torfs wrote that he found it striking that there was indeed a cordon sanitaire against Vlaams Belang, but not against the PVDA. According to him, a calm conversation about that issue was hardly possible because entrenched positions hindered reflection, although he believed that the changing reality warranted it. #politiek #Vlaanderen #onderwijs (translated)

Maurits Vande Reyde wrote that, in his opinion, it was not a sufficient correction to mention that those involved were members of the PVDA. He argued that they were party-driven and that their testimony was staged. According to him, if an article contained only such testimonies, it was worthless. He added that discussions about fake news and Trump were happening daily in the meantime. #Politiek #Fakenews #PVDA (translated)

Maurits Vande Reyde wrote that, in his opinion, the media repeatedly selected testimonies from people who were active in the PVDA in reports about the consequences of a smaller government. He stated that one of them said they had to skip meals due to the policy but had money for solidarity trips to Cuba. The measure in question limited child benefits to the age of 23, Vande Reyde wrote. He added that there were exceptions for cases with valid reasons and risk of poverty, but claimed that these did not apply to the activists involved. According to Vande Reyde, the same PVDA activists were at the forefront of various protests, from climate marches to protests against coalition agreements. He also claimed that the media once portrayed an adult PVDA member of parliament as a protesting student. Vande Reyde wrote that this kind of reporting was a reason for the historically low trust in the media. #Media #België #PVDA (translated)

Maurits Vande Reyde wrote that, in his opinion, tax increases were too obvious in Belgium. He stated that academics, experts, and journalists often defended increases as difficult but inevitable and economically sensible, while political opponents were dismissed as enfant terrible. In Flanders, according to Vande Reyde, within less than two years, registration fees and costs for waste management had been increased, a road tax had been introduced, and various levies had risen, especially for entrepreneurs. The promised reduction of inheritance tax had also been scrapped. No party had announced these measures before the elections, he wrote. Vande Reyde added that, in the meantime, nothing was happening to reduce the state apparatus. According to him, cuts at the federal level were deemed impossible, while the removal of a small amount of Flemish subsidies was portrayed for weeks as an infringement of universal human rights. He also stated that the press regularly presented so-called spontaneous testimonials from people who almost always turned out to be PVDA activists, and that others viewed things differently. #Belastingverhogingen #Vlaanderen #Politiek (translated)

The author wrote that the VAT increase was no longer on the table and referred to that as a first direct result of pressure from public opinion, the social movement, and the PVDA. According to the author, it was not a coincidence that the proposal had been withdrawn: last Friday, 50,000 people had gone out into the streets. #btw #publiekeopinie #sociaalewetgeving #NL (translated)

Bert Middel, a straightforward social democrat and fervent opponent of the merger with GroenLinks, dedicated his life to the interests of the ordinary person and often complained about the distance between the party elite and the grassroots, denouncing the erosion of social security and the fight against poverty. #BertMiddel #PvdA #sociaaldemocratie (translated)

Maurits Vande Reyde wrote that Conner Rousseau, together with N-VA and CD&V, had submitted a decree that he believed was intended to remove Jinnih Beels from the way. He stated that the measure went further than Beels and demonstrated how party leaders could abuse political power. Vande Reyde warned that everyone, according to him, could be affected by such legislation. He illustrated this with an example of someone from whom a party leader wanted to take a piece of land and suggested that parliament could pass laws for that purpose. He wrote that this had happened before, was happening now, and would continue to happen in the future. He also referred to Valerie Van Peel, who had spoken about this the previous day in De Afspraak. According to Vande Reyde, Van Peel had defended the decree as necessary "in the interest of the citizen" and "to ensure good governance," despite her earlier criticism of political games. He noted it was hopeful that Vlaams Belang, PVDA, Groen, and Anders were collectively opposing the decree. Vande Reyde called for personal conflicts to be resolved among themselves and not to use parliament or the rule of law for that purpose. #Politiek #Rechtsstaat #Machtsmisbruik (translated)

Busy with the alleged masturbation of Koen Schuiling (I don't believe a word of it, knowing the man a bit). Busy with insulting texts about two women by Jan Roos and Dennis Schouten, clowns that no one takes seriously. Busy with me because the taxi driver Ibrahim, who was dismissed for persistent misconduct by TCA, believes that I called him a "fucking Moroccan" (something that high-ranking PvdA members actually said and worse, without any action from the Public Prosecution). But no time for serious crime. The Public Prosecution brings so many nonsense cases to the courts that it has become very common for rulings to take two to three years now. It's just insane. https://t.co/3QfrSOpCCs #Justitie #Waarheid #Media (translated)

"Nivelleren is een feest." Hans Spekman, PvdA-voorzitter, 2012. Tegenwoordig voorzitter van de FNV. Goed nieuws, Hans. Bron: UBS Global Wealth Report 2026 https://t.co/xltt9AHzqp Rijksoverheid, CBS #Nivelleren #Middenklasse #Economie
