Að lesa Noica hefði getað verið gönguferð um 4. og 5. áratug 20. aldar. Í staðinn förum við þessa ferð með nútímagleraugu, sitjandi þægilega í Uber, án þess að óttast að villast — það er að segja án þess að eiga á hættu að skilja ekki orð þess tíma, sem hefði einfaldlega mátt „þýða“ í neðanmálsgreinum. Hvað ef við tækjum líka dagblöðin frá þessum tíma og „uppfærðum“ þau? Og kannski ættum við líka að endurmarka auglýsingar þess tíma, svo taugafrumurnar okkar þurfi ekki að vinna of mikið, eins og við værum í escape room. Af hverju að stoppa þar? Við gætum líka uppfært sögukennslubækur og skrifað að Arkimedes frá Sýrakúsu hafi verið drepinn af rómverskum hermanni á meðan hann var að reikna stærðfræði á spjaldtölvunni sinni. Grunnhugmyndin helst sú sama, ekki satt? Aðeins tímabilið hverfur. Og eitt enn: af hverju „uppfæra“ stærðfræðingar ekki Pýþagóras? Þeir geta breytt táknmálinu. Þeir geta útskýrt sönnunina á annan hátt. Þeir geta jafnvel byggt myndina upp á netinu með hreyfimynd sem verður til fyrir augum nemendanna. En regla Pýþagórasar er áfram regla Pýþagórasar. Þegar við lesum eldri höfund, af hverju ekki að varðveita líka tungumál hans tíma — og setja nútímaskýringar í athugasemdir?
